Ibrahima Konaté is entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and with no new deal in place, questions are growing about his future at Anfield.

Reports have linked the defender with a possible move to PSG, while Real Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on his situation should talks continue to stall beyond the winter window.

Foot Mercato previously reported that Barcelona had also shown interest in Konaté, adding another major club to the list of potential suitors. Even with that attention, Liverpool decided to keep hold of him during the summer transfer window.

Maxence Lacroix has reportedly emerged as a serious name under consideration at Liverpool as the club prepares for the possible departure of Konaté. With Marc Guehi’s future still unclear, the Reds view the French defender as an intriguing mix of proven ability and untapped potential.

According to TMW, Liverpool’s scouting department rates Lacroix highly, with some within the club even describing him as a “Rolls Royce” type of defender.

Since joining Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg, he has settled quickly and made a strong impact. Palace have conceded just three goals in league play this season and remain unbeaten at home — a record that owes much to Lacroix’s composure and leadership at the back.

His statistical profile also stands out, particularly in ground duels and anticipation — traits that appeal to Liverpool as they assess long-term defensive options. In addition, his lower-profile nature compared with Guehi could make negotiations smoother.
