Liverpool suffered a late setback at the City Ground as Florian Wirtz was withdrawn from the starting XI minutes before kick-off.

According to Nottingham Post, the German international had been due to start the Premier League clash, but Curtis Jones came in with Liverpool pursuing a Champions League place.

Wirtz has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers over the past two months.

The fixture carries significance at both ends of the table, with Forest seeking breathing space after West Ham were held by Bournemouth yesterday.

Liverpool are chasing the top four and were lifted by Chelsea’s home draw with Burnley yesterday.

The occasion also marks Vitor Pereira’s first home match since succeeding Sean Dyche as manager.

In midweek he oversaw a 3-0 Europa League win over Fenerbache.

A Forest victory today would complete the double over Liverpool after their 3-0 success earlier in the season.
