Liverpool suffer late blow as Florian Wirtz withdrawn at Nottingham Forest

Liverpool suffered a late setback when Florian Wirtz was withdrawn from the starting XI moments before kick-off at the City Ground. He was replaced by Curtis Jones.

Wirtz had been due to start as Liverpool continue their push for a Champions League place. The German has been among their standout performers over the past two months.

Forest are seeking breathing space from the drop after West Ham were held by Bournemouth yesterday. Liverpool’s top-four chase was also boosted by Chelsea’s home draw with Burnley.

The match marks Vitor Pereira’s first home game since succeeding Sean Dyche as manager. A Forest win would complete the double after a 3-0 success earlier in the season.
