According to The Athletic, Liverpool will return to the United States after the World Cup for a three-match pre-season tour, facing Wrexham at Yankee Stadium and also playing Leeds United and Sunderland.

The fixtures, organised by TEG Sport, will use MLS and NFL-sized venues, none of them World Cup sites.

The series opens on Saturday, July 25, with Wrexham playing Leeds at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, and Liverpool meeting Sunderland at GEODIS Park in Nashville.

On Wednesday, July 29, Liverpool face Wrexham at Yankee Stadium. The following night, Leeds play Sunderland at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, home of the New York Red Bulls.

It concludes on Sunday, August 2, when Liverpool play Leeds at Soldier Field in Chicago, and Sunderland face Wrexham at Subaru Park in Philadelphia.

Wrexham are sixth in the Championship, nine points off second, so they may tour as a Premier League club for the first time, though promotion is not yet secured.

Sunderland beat Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road on Tuesday to reach 40 points, with both clubs well placed to remain in the Premier League next season.
