Liverpool ‘to target’ Marco Silva’s Benfica prospect Daniel Banjaqui, with €50m price named | OneFootball

Anfield Watch reports that Liverpool have identified Benfica youngster Daniel Banjaqui as one of their main right-back targets, and any deal would need to reach €50 million.

Liverpool have been using Ronald Araújo on the right, although the 27-year-old Uruguay international is a centre-back by trade. He is currently on loan from Barcelona, with an option to buy of around €55 million.

Arsenal are understood to have tabled a €30 million proposal, split into €15 million guaranteed and €15 million in add-ons. Benfica rejected the offer as they maintain a firm stance over one of their top academy prospects.

Benfica are prepared to negotiate only from €50 million, a level Rui Costa’s board are comfortable with for the Portugal under-17 world and European champion.

Banjaqui made his senior debut for Benfica in last season’s Taça de Portugal round of 16 against Farense. His first Liga start came on matchday 19 against Estrela da Amadora, when he set up Anísio Cabral for the goal that completed a 4-0 win. This season, with Alexander Bah injured, Marco Silva has used him in three matches, including against Milan in the Europa League, where he produced a solid defensive display.
