Liverpool will reportedly not bid for Marc Guéhi again after the defender's transfer fell through at the last minute.
The Crystal Palace captain was in the final stages of completing a £35 million move to Anfield on deadline day before the plug was pulled on the move.
According to journalist Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph, Liverpool are no longer willing to pay to sign the 25-year-old and will instead wait until the end of the season.
That could of course allow other clubs to swoop in for Guéhi but the England international is believed to be prioritising a move to Liverpool.
While Arne Slot's side may gain a centre-back on a free transfer, they may also still lose one with Ibrahima Konaté's future still in doubt as he enters the final year of his contract with no agreement yet for a potential new deal.
