Barcelona are lucky to have someone like Lamine Yamal, who is still a teenager but already one of the best players in the world.

His rise to the top of football has been incredible, and he seems to keep getting better with every passing season.

His influence is increasingly being felt beyond Barcelona, with Spain and Liverpool youngster Victor Munoz admitting he is trying to learn as much as possible from the 19-year-old.

Munoz learning from Lamine

Speaking to El Chiringuito, Munoz explained that simply sharing the training pitch with Lamine provides an opportunity to learn from him.

“I try to learn a lot from him,” Munoz said when asked about the Barcelona star.

“Being able to watch him train every day is a privilege.”

It is striking praise considering just how young Lamine is. Such comments usually come from younger teammates towards senior superstars.

Lamine is only 19, yet he is already becoming that reference point for other young Spanish players, even those older than him.

Lamine’s status has changed rapidly

Lamine has started the season with 11 goals and seven assists across his opening 10 appearances for Barcelona and Spain, producing 18 direct goal contributions in only 829 minutes.

However, players who train alongside him see things supporters cannot always measure through statistics.

They see his decision-making, technique and approach to one-v-one situations repeatedly on the training pitch.

For Munoz to describe watching that process every day as a “privilege” shows the reputation Lamine has already established inside the Spain set-up.

A remarkable position

Perhaps the biggest compliment to Lamine is no longer what coaches, pundits or supporters say about him. It is what his contemporaries are doing because of him.

Munoz is not simply impressed by Lamine. He is actively watching him in training and trying to learn from what he does.

That is an extraordinary position for a 19-year-old who, not long ago, was the youngster looking around Barcelona’s first-team dressing room for lessons of his own.

Now, the role has changed. It remains to be seen how Lamine’s development progresses from here in the coming years.
