The France international, signed for £123million from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, made his debut as a substitute against Ipswich last Friday night, but is in the team from the off tonight.

Barcola is one of two changes to the side that started at Portman Road as Rio Ngumoha comes in for the absent Cody Gakpo.

This means Ronald Araujo continues at right-back, with Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet in central defence.

Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai will form the midfield double pivot as Ryan Gravenberch and Trey Nyoni are overlooked.

Further forward Alexander Isak will spearhead the Reds' attack having been rested just after the hour mark against Ipswich. The Swede had earlier bagged a brace for the first time in Liverpool colours.

Florian Wirtz is set to continue his role in the pocket as he looks to become the key man for the new Reds manager. Wataru Endo has been left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad list, while Victor Munoz is on the bench.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Van Dijk, Jacquet, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Mac Allister, Barcola, Araujo, Ngumoha.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Tsimikas, Munoz, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Chambers, McConnell, Koumas, Danns.
