Villarreal's winter window is in motion, with loan departures expected and no signings planned for now. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the club have already confirmed Adrià Altimira’s move to Deportivo de la Coruña and Manor Solomon’s switch to Fiorentina.
Ilias Akhomach has asked to leave to gain minutes, aiming to be ready for next summer’s World Cup. The winger is due back this week after defeat in the Africa Cup of Nations final, and Rayo Vallecano, who play in the Conference, are currently best placed to take him for the rest of the campaign.
New signing Thiago Fernández has been out for 13 months with a serious knee injury and needs game time, so a loan is being explored, with the alternative of minutes for the B team. Levante are among clubs to have asked about him, and a move for minutes would be the likely outcome.
Raúl Moro, 23, visits La Cerámica on Tuesday with Ajax and is seeking a way out of the Dutch club. Villarreal’s recruitment team have monitored him since his Valladolid spell, where he impressed despite the team’s relegation.
The winger interests Villarreal, yet the club are not planning a deal at this stage and nothing is ruled out while January remains open. With Akhomach and Thiago potentially leaving, and Solomon already gone, Marcelino would welcome an extra wide option for the remainder of La Liga, though a move for Raúl Moro is seen as more feasible next season.
