Loïs Openda recalled by Belgium after strong start at OL | OneFootball

Loïs Openda has been recalled by Belgium for the upcoming Nations League fixtures after a strong start to the season with OL. The forward, on loan from Juventus, was not selected by Rudi Garcia for the American World Cup.

According to Le Progres, Mark van Bommel, who replaced Rudi Garcia after the World Cup, has named his first 28-player squad for matches against Italy, two against France, and Türkiye.

The group has been expanded because four games are scheduled. Several players return to the fold.

Malick Fofana, who was at OL until one September and now plays for Sunderland, is also included. Orel Mangala, featuring this season for Getafe, is not.

Fofana had not played for the Red Devils since 13 October 2025. He then suffered a serious ankle injury days later after a heavy foul by Strasbourg’s Ismaël Doukouré, and ended the season with only 33 minutes for OL.
