Reports had suggested that London City were willing to wait until summer to sign Marcetto on a free but have now brought the transfer forward with this deadline-day signing.

"I feel very excited and so happy to be here," Marcetto said on her arrival. "The facilities are great and the people I’ve met have made me feel really welcome."

"England just reminds me of, and makes me think of, football. It’s the biggest football country, in my opinion. Women’s football is growing here and it’s going to be a very competitive league to play in, I’m really excited to be here and get started.

"London is a cool city. I’m from Copenhagen so I think I’ll fit in very well. I’m so happy to be here...

"My aim is to do the best for the team. Winning and earning points for the team is the important thing."

Marcetto has signed a contract until 2028 and could make her debut for the club this weekend when Eder Maestre's side host Everton in the WSL.
