Plenty are impressing away from their parent clubs

It was another record-breaking summer for Premier League clubs in the transfer window, with spending reaching £3.49billion and a total of £506.5m spent on Deadline Day itself.

Where there were incomings, though, there were also many outgoings, and the clubs in the capital made plenty of use of the loan market before the window shut last week.

With so many players out trying to forge a name for themselves, Standard Sport has compiled five performances you may have missed from last weekend’s round of action…

Cardines continues excellent start at Bristol City

Crystal Palace have long had high hopes for academy right-back Rio Cardines, and he is quickly proving why he may have a first-team future back in south London.

After just four appearances for Championship promotion hopefuls Bristol City, Cardines is already a firm fan favourite at Ashton Gate and was crowned Player of the Month for August.

Since coming into the team, Bristol City have yet to lose a game, with Cardines registering an assist in each of his four appearances.

That included a superb in-swinging corner for Rob Dickie to head home, as Bristol City came from behind late on to snatch three points away to Burnley over the weekend.

It has been a remarkable start for the 20-year-old, who will surely be catching the eye back at Selhurst Park.

Donley off the mark for Luton

Roberto De Zerbi was said to have been impressed by Jamie Donley’s performances for Tottenham during pre-season.

But having spent £185m on midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes over the summer, the Spurs boss could not offer Donley the game time he needed this season.

That led to a loan deal being secured for the 21-year-old to join Jack Wilshere’s Luton Town, where he has not taken long to make an impact.

Starting for the third game in a row, Donley opened the scoring for Luton as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leyton Orient.

A well-taken left-footed strike gave Luton the perfect start midway through the first half, and Donley will hope to build on his goal as the games come thick and fast in League One.

Essugo contributes to Strasbourg demolition job

Chelsea once again have a flurry of players on loan at BlueCo sister club Strasbourg this season, with Filip Jorgensen, Genesis Antwi and Dario Essugo all making the move to the north-east of France.

Essugo, a deadline-day arrival, made his first appearance off the bench over the weekend, grabbing an assist as Strasbourg swept aside newly promoted Troyes 6-2 at the Stade de l'Aube.

The 21-year-old featured just five times for Chelsea last season after injury disrupted his debut campaign in west London.

He will hope for better luck and more minutes this term as he seeks to further his case for a first-team future back at Chelsea.

Moore makes immediate impact at Koln

Koln had to be patient before announcing the loan signing of Tottenham winger Mikey Moore, but the early suggestions are that it was worth the wait.

Despite going down 4-1 to Stuttgart, Moore climbed off the bench to reduce the deficit late on in his first appearance for the club.

Linking up with former Manchester City striker Reigan Heskey, Moore drove to the byline before pulling the ball back for Ramon Hendriks to tap into an empty net.

Spurs will be keeping a close eye on Moore’s development, with the 19-year-old viewed as potentially having a first-team future back in north London.

Loupalo-Bi opens his account at Fleetwood

Fulham forward Aaron Loupalo-Bi is hoping this year will be his breakthrough year in senior football.

After a prolific spell for the club’s youth teams and two hit-and-miss loans at Walsall and Dagenham & Redbridge, the 20-year-old is looking to make his mark at Fleetwood Town.

Loupalo-Bi is viewed internally as a promising talent at Fulham, but he needs to translate his form at youth level into the senior game.

A goal off the bench for Fleetwood over the weekend helped maintain the League Two side’s unbeaten start to the season, and Loupalo-Bi will hope that it leads to more regular minutes.
