La Liga outfit Athletic Club will soon be able to call upon the talents of star goalkeeper Unai Simón once more.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in the Basque Country.

Shot-stopper Simón, for his part, has been sidelined since all the way back in July.

As much comes after the 27-year-old, fresh off playing a starring role for the triumphant Spanish squad at Euro 2024, was forced under the knife to repair a wrist injury.

Simón had been spotted back out on the grass for individual drills over recent weeks, with the last couple of days having seen the Athletic standout ramp up his recovery as part of group training.

And, as per the aforementioned MD, Simón’s return can therefore be considered as ‘very close’:

‘According to the latest information, the goalkeeper has been training with his teammates for a few days now and could return in a few days after four months out.’
