Ouest-France report this afternoon that Lorient are set to renew the contracts of both of their goalkeepers – with Vito Mannone and Yvon Mvogo to each sign a one-year extension, taking their time in Brittany to 2024 and 2025 respectively.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper arrived on a free transfer from Monaco last summer, and has started all of Les Merlus’ games in the second half of the season, in the wake of Mvogo’s long-term injury. The Italian spoke exclusively to Get French Football News last month about finding regular playing time again after a tough spell in the Principality.
The Swiss international also arrived in Brittany as a free agent, from RB Leipzig after a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, and could be in line for a return to action against Toulouse next weekend, after five months on the sidelines.
Régis Le Bris’ are aiming for a top-half finish this season, and currently sit in tenth place. After an impressive start to the campaign, which saw them sit second only to PSG during long stretches of the autumn, the team was able to recover from the January departures of both Terem Moffi and Dango Ouattara to rediscover some form in the last month.
