Pablo Pagis (23) is enjoying an excellent season at FC Lorient. In 21 games in Ligue 1, the playmaker already has eight goals. During Les Merlus’ promotion campaign in Ligue 2, he netted 14 goal contributions (four goals, nine assists) in 29 games in all competitions.

Beyond his statistics, he has emerged as the standout player in a Lorient side that has defied expectations so far this season. Many had Les Merlus as one of the favourites to go down, but with 10 games remaining, they sit comfortably midtable in 10th.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Get French Football NewsNewcastle United loanee Trevan Sanusi chose Pagis as the player who has impressed him most since making the move to the Breton club over the summer.

And the Lorient playmaker certainly has big ambitions, as he outlined in an interview with Eurosport“For me, the prime is Barcelona. It is really the club where I would like to play in my prime, as they say. When I was young, I watched all of their matches. With the MSN (Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar Jr.), it was incredible, and it is true that I fell in love with this club,” the Frenchman said.
