A return to the places that shaped an unforgettable chapter of his story. Lothar Matthäus was back in the world of Inter, revisiting the places at the heart of his Nerazzurri journey: Inter HQ, San Siro and the Inter Training Center in Appiano Gentile. It was a journey through memories and emotions, celebrating a bond with the Nerazzurri colours that has stood the test of time.

A Ballon d’Or winner, Italian champion and leader in one of the greatest Inter sides of all time, Matthäus left an indelible mark on the Club’s history. After arriving in Milano in 1988, the German midfielder played a starring role in the record-breaking Scudetto triumph of 1988/89 and helped Inter achieve further success during that era. Many years on, his bond with Inter remains as strong as ever, with San Siro and the Nerazzurri world at the heart of so many cherished memories.

The journey began on the evening of 14 September, when Matthäus returned to San Siro to watch Chivu’s side come from behind to beat Udinese 5-3 in a thrilling encounter. His return was celebrated before kick-off, as Lothar stepped back onto the pitch where he once worked his magic before taking his place in the stands at the stadium where he wrote some of the most memorable chapters of his career in an Inter shirt.

The following morning, on 15 September, Matthäus visited Inter HQ, where he immersed himself in the Club’s history and spent time in the trophy room. Surrounded by trophies, memorabilia and historic photographs, the former midfielder looked back on the seasons he spent in Nerazzurri colours.

The journey then continued at San Siro, where Matthäus enjoyed the spectacular Skywalk experience. From high above the Meazza, Matthäus was able to look down once again on the stage where he achieved some of his most legendary feats in an Inter shirt.

The final stop was the Inter Training Center, where Matthäus connected with the Inter of today while reliving the emotions and memories of his own Nerazzurri journey. It was a chance to rediscover the meaning of colours that remain part of his story to this day.
