Luan Peres and Escobar missed training as Santos began preparations for Grêmio on Saturday, with several fitness doubts.

The squad reported back to CT Rei Pelé on Thursday 21 after the draw with San Lorenzo in the Sul-Americana at Vila Belmiro. According to Diario Do Peixe, the session was mostly recovery work.

Centre-back Luan Peres is well but remains in a five-day concussion protocol after leaving the Coritiba game by ambulance on Sunday 17. He cannot take part in Friday 22 activities, though he may travel to Porto Alegre for the match at 19:00 on Saturday 23. He remains a doubt.

Left-back Escobar, absent against San Lorenzo, has pain in his left hamstring and is also a doubt. Attacking midfielder Rollheiser, withdrawn at half-time on Wednesday 20, is uncertain too.

Lucas Veríssimo, Igor Vinicius, Gustavo Henrique and others are at their physical limit. Gabriel Menino and João Schmidt are recovering from right hamstring injuries, while Neymar Jr is nursing a calf knock.

The No 10 is not expected to feature again for Santos before the World Cup. Although there would be time after Grêmio to face Deportivo Cuenca on Tuesday 26 at 21:30, that appears unlikely. He is among the players called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the tournament.

He will report to Granja Comary on Wednesday 27. Brazil have friendlies with Panama and Egypt around a US trip in early June, so he is expected to miss Santos against Vitoria on 30 May.
