Tottenham’s academy side ran riot in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon, thrashing Slavia Prague 9-1 to record their biggest-ever win in the competition and book their place in the next round.

The headline act was Luca Williams-Barnett, who struck an outstanding five goals to underline his growing reputation as one of the brightest young talents at the club.

Tynan Thompson added a well-taken hat-trick, while James Rowswell was also on the scoresheet as Spurs overwhelmed their Czech visitors at Hotspur Way.

Spurs were in control from the outset and went into the break three goals to the good, although Slavia briefly threatened a response when Samuel Pikolon pulled one back just before half-time with their first effort on target.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished after the restart, however, as the hosts stepped up a gear and continued to find space at will.

Williams-Barnett’s five-goal display was the standout moment of a ruthless second-half showing and made him just the fifth player to score five times in a single Youth League match since the competition began in 2013/14.

The emphatic victory takes Tottenham to 12 points from six games and confirmed their progression to the knockout stages in style.
