Boca Unidos have appointed Lucas Batistuta as head coach of their professional side for the Torneo Federal A. The 29-year-old is the son of Gabriel Batistuta, a historic goalscorer for Argentina.
The Corrientes club has launched a new institutional and football phase with the unveiling of “Proyecto Boca Unidos 2026”. According to SuperDepor.com, the initiative combines backing from local investors with a full restructure of the sporting department.
José Chamot has been named sporting director and Alberto Boggio will serve as general coordinator, forming a three-strong leadership group. The plan is aimed at professionalising operations across the club.
Batistuta’s staff will include José Villarruel as assistant and Hugo Díaz as fitness coach. The hierarchy intends to support the young manager with a team that blends lower-division knowledge and long-term planning.
He arrives from Romang FC, where he won three Liga de Reconquista titles. A former Boca Unidos player, he also had spells with Colón, Platense de Reconquista and in Italy’s lower leagues, experience he now looks to apply from the dugout.
