Valencia’s injury issues have focused attention on Lucas Beltrán, who has missed the past two matches with knee tendinitis and remains a doubt for the next round.

According to El Chiringuito, the Argentine did not join team-mates on the grass on Wednesday, which further clouds his chances of featuring.

Beltrán has been one of Valencia’s standout performers in recent months operating as a playmaker, and his form had endeared him to Mestalla. There is no serious injury, but discomfort has restricted his work and he could be absent for a third straight game.

In an interview on Tuesday, he said he would like to stay at Valencia, yet added there have been no talks so far and there is no clause the club can trigger. He said the option to remain is open and any deal could be negotiated when his loan ends, but that there is nothing yet.

In training, Corberán did have Renzo Saravia available as the right-back builds fitness to make his first squad. The position remains problematic given Thierry’s condition and Dimitri Foulquier’s injury.
