Lucas Paqueta and West Ham United are considering suing the Football Association (FA) over the collapse of his proposed move to Manchester City in 2023, according to the Times.
He had all but agreed to leave the London Stadium club and join Man City, but spot-fixing charges hanging over his head scuppered the move.
Paqueta was accused of deliberately receiving a yellow card in matches, but he has since been cleared of those charges.
The West Ham midfielder and the club are considering taking legal action against the FA as the failed transfer denied both parties a chance to earn millions of pounds.
Paqueta avoided a lifetime ban after he was cleared, but he is now ready to take the FA to court for denying him a dream move, as Man City have moved on to other targets.
West Ham appointed lawyers for him during the investigation, and the FA have yet to decide whether they would be responsible for the costs of the legal fees, expected to surpass £1 million.
Aston Villa were keen on signing the South American before the summer transfer window closed on Monday, but they were unable to agree terms.
He will be playing for both his club and international futures this season, with the 2026 World Cup on his mind. His goal against Nottingham Forest over the weekend should help boost his morale.
Paqueta will not be short of suitors if he can recover the form which made Man City want to sign him two summers ago.
That ship has sailed, but he still has what it takes to secure a big move, and the FA may have to pay for blocking his dream move.
