Lucas Paquetá chooses number 20 at Flamengo to honour Vini Jr | OneFootball

Lucas Paquetá will wear number 20 on his return to Flamengo, a tribute to Vini Jr. The club revealed the choice on its social channels.

Vini wore 20 until 2018, when he left for Real Madrid. Paquetá previously used 39, 29 and 11 before his own 2018 move to Milan.

The midfielder was greeted by hundreds at Galeão Airport on Thursday morning. He posed for photos and videos with fans, donned a shirt and cap of an organised supporters' group, and stayed around 20 minutes.

"Maybe Flamengo did not need me, but I needed Flamengo. I am very happy with all the affection, because I feel a strong connection. I am one of you on the pitch, and I can promise that will not change. My heart is red and black, and I will show that on the pitch," he told Flamengo TV.

After leaving the airport he went to a private clinic for tests, then on to Ninho do Urubu. If his name is published in the CBF's BID by Friday, he could debut on Sunday against Corinthians in the Supercopa do Brasil.
