This Sunday (14), the Corinthians women's team ended the 2025 season as runners-up in the Paulista Championship, after losing to Palmeiras in the final, with an aggregate score of 5 x 2. With the season over, the club now turns its attention to important decisions for next year, including the contract situation of coach Lucas Piccinato, whose current deal expires in December.

After the second leg of the final, held at Canindé and won by Timão, the coach spoke about the possibility of staying at Parque São Jorge and confirmed that talks are underway with the board regarding a contract renewal, but emphasized that the decision does not depend solely on him.

“I've said this a few times already, as long as Corinthians believes I'm the right person to be in charge, I will work, giving my best and delivering what I can. Knowing that I need to evolve, that I need to improve, but I will always try to give my best here. Yes, we are in talks for a renewal, but football is very momentary. So, things could change at any moment, but yes, I want to stay, I will work to stay, I think the club would like me to stay. Whether this final will have an impact or not on the decision about my staying, that's a question that's not for me to answer,” he stated.

The team's performance throughout the final led to protests from part of the Corinthians fanbase at the end of the match at Canindé. Even so, the Corinthians board continues to negotiate Lucas Piccinato's renewal. The club's intention is to extend the coach's contract for another three seasons, according to the portal Meu Timão.

During the press conference, Piccinato also discussed the club's planning for 2026, mentioning talks regarding maintaining the squad and possible reinforcements. “These are issues we are still discussing regarding renewals, new signings. Yes, we talked to Zanotti, we talked to all the players whose contracts were ending. You should have decisions as soon as possible,” he explained.

So far, Corinthians has officially renewed the contracts of goalkeepers Nicole Ramos and Lelê, as well as full-backs Gi Fernandes and Tamires. On the other hand, goalkeeper Kemelli and defender Mariza will not remain for next season. Other players whose contracts are ending, such as full-backs Paulinha and Letícia Santos, as well as forward Eudimilla, are also not expected to stay with the squad in 2026.
