Benfica said in a statement that Lúcia Alves has extended her contract until the summer of 2031. The announcement was made on Wednesday, 20 May via the club’s official channels, with the player pictured alongside Mónica Jorge, director of women’s football.
The renewal follows a season in which she helped lift a sixth consecutive league title and the Taça de Portugal in 2025/26.
Alves described the moment as very special and something she had dreamed of since childhood, stressing that only Benfica’s colours make sense to her.
Her aims are to win as many trophies as possible and to keep contributing more to the team. In the Champions League she wants to go further, having already reached the quarter-finals, and she sees that pursuit as meaningful only in this shirt.
She underlined the importance of the supporters’ backing, noting that their presence helps the team improve. Confident that Benfica is the right path, she hopes to keep winning trophies to celebrate together.
