Luis Enrique says he could not guarantee Bradley Barcola the minutes he wanted, after the winger left Paris Saint-Germain for Liverpool.

According to Goal.com, the PSG head coach said Barcola sought a bigger role and that he accepted the decision and wished him well.

The 23-year-old made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 13 and providing seven assists after arriving from Lyon, but had no pre-season minutes and did not make a matchday squad this term.

Enrique described Barcola as important and well liked, and said departures of key players are part of football. He also underlined that places are earned in training and matches.

Barcola joins a Liverpool side seeking momentum after starting the Premier League with back-to-back draws against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

Despite the exit, the former Barcelona manager expressed satisfaction with PSG’s summer business, citing the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Lucas Digne, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche, and said he believes the refreshed squad is equipped to compete.
