According to L'Équipe, Lukas Hradecky will return in goal for Monaco against Brest on Saturday in Ligue 1, reclaiming the starting shirt despite Philipp Köhn’s form.
The Finnish goalkeeper injured a knee on 3 January against Lyon, 1-3. In his absence, Köhn has stood out against PSG in the Champions League first leg, 2-3, and in Ligue 1 last weekend, 3-1.
Head coach Sébastien Pocognoli, who kept his decision under wraps during Hradecky’s November comeback, has ended any uncertainty and said the starter will retake the gloves. He praised Köhn’s development across two spells, from September to November and from January to now, calling the contest healthy. He added that Hradecky had been in a good rhythm before the setback and should bring experience and quality.
Pocognoli also suggested that right-back Vanderson’s Ligue 1 season is over. The Brazilian still hopes to be ready for the World Cup, which starts in three months.
By contrast, he expects to have left-back Caio Henrique back before the campaign ends after he was also injured against PSG last Friday, although it will take many weeks before he returns.
