Pascal Struijk’s move to Brighton was confirmed on Tuesday evening, prompting an emotional farewell and tributes from Leeds United figures including Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper.
yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk understands Leeds will receive 18 million for the defender, with a further 2 million in potential add-ons and a portion of any future sale. The 26-year-old was offered a new contract but chose a fresh challenge.
Struijk joined Leeds as an 18-year-old in 2018 and spent eight-and-a-half seasons at Elland Road, winning two Championship titles and establishing himself at Premier League level. In an Instagram video he called Leeds a family, spoke of unconditional love at Elland Road and said the bond would endure.
Messages arrived from former teammates across eras under Marcelo Bielsa and Daniel Farke. Liam Cooper wished him and his family well, and Luke Ayling praised his growth from youngster to man.
Junior Firpo labelled him a Leeds legend, while Meslier, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jayden Bogle also sent support.
