Luke O’Nien has addressed Sunderland supporters after the club’s latest Premier League win, as Régis Le Bris’ side build momentum at a key stage. Sunderland Echo notes that his message followed Sunday’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham arrived on Wearside under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, but their struggles continued. Sunderland were the more organised and threatening side. The decisive moment came when Nordi Mukiele’s long-range effort took a heavy deflection off Micky van de Ven, wrong-footing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The result made it three wins in matches started by O’Nien, after earlier successes against Leeds United and Newcastle United. Across those games Sunderland have conceded only one goal, against Newcastle United, though that was his error. His leadership and intensity have underpinned a back line that has stood up to high-level opposition.

Reflecting on the afternoon, O’Nien said it had been an enjoyable occasion at the Stadium of Light and that the group would keep building together. He also noted the team’s progress under Le Bris.
