Leon Goretzka will not be leaving FC Bayern in the winter, as BILD reporters Tobi Altschäffl and Julian Agardi make unmistakably clear in the latest Bayern Insider podcast. In recent weeks, several media outlets have speculated that the international could be considering an immediate departure due to the competition in midfield. But these scenarios are apparently not realistic

Altschäffl made it clear: „That’s not true. Goretzka is not a winter transfer candidate and Bayern have no interest in selling him.“

It is therefore clear that the 30-year-old will retain a role in Vincent Kompany’s squad until at least the summer

Why Goretzka is still important for Bayern

The statements in the podcast leave no doubt: Goretzka is highly regarded internally. He has once again shown himself to be a stable player this year and embodies a profile that continues to be of great importance in Munich’s midfield – physically strong, experienced, confident in tackles and with leadership qualities

Agardi therefore emphasizes: „Goretzka is important. You can see that very clearly in the discussions internally.“ As a link player between defence and attack in particular, he remains a fixture who gives the team stability and structure. Kompany also values the international – especially for his tactical discipline and robustness in intense matches

What happens after the winter

Goretzka’s recent appearance in transfer rumours had a lot to do with the changing midfield structure. With Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof, two players have come to the fore. The fact that his contract expires in the summer of 2026 is also a topic of conversation

However, a reduction in his playing time does not mean that the club can do without him. Bayern know that Goretzka is regularly one of the strongest players in big games.
