Luton Town midfielder Sverre Sandal has been linked with a shock move to Leeds United
Luton Town, despite a 3-2 victory away to Bolton Wanderers on the final day, narrowly missed out on the League One play-off places and will be playing third-tier football once again next season.
Emotions rarely run anything other than high at Luton, with the club having experienced a rollercoaster of a journey over the past decade or so.
The Hatters were playing in the National League as recently as 2014, and then in the Premier League as recently as 2024 after a miracle rise, but now find themselves preparing for their second consecutive campaign in League One just two years later.
Inconsistent runs of form across the season meant that Jack Wilshere's side were unable to break into the top six despite having a chance on the final day, with Stevenage's 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic seeing the Boro sneak in at their expense.
Preparations for the summer will be well underway at Kenilworth Road, as the Hatters could be set to receive a surprise offer from a Premier League side for an out-of-favour midfielder.

There has been a huge degree of turnover at Luton over the past few years following the club's promotion and relegation from the Premier League, which has continued even as recently as this January.
The likes of Davy van den Berg, Devante Cole, Kasey Palmer, and Emilio Lawrence all made the move to Bedfordshire, but the biggest move they made was that of Norwegian midfielder Sverre Sandal, who joined from KFUM for around £700k.
Sandal, 22, arrived with the prospect of adding more quality and depth to Wilshere's midfield, but it hasn't exactly panned out that way, as he has been limited to just seven minutes of football across three league appearances during the second half of the campaign, rarely even making the matchday squad.
It's therefore somewhat puzzling that Italian publication Il Secolo XIX have reported that Premier League survivalists Leeds United are interested in bringing the young midfielder to Yorkshire this summer.
Having struggled to even make the matchday squad in League One, Leeds are looking to capitalise on Luton's potential transfer mishap with the capture of Sandal, who would help to provide competition in the top flight.
Leeds have the likes of Ao Tanaka and Sean Longstaff behind the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach, and Ilia Gruev as midfield options, so where Sandal would fit in remains to be seen, especially if the Whites complete another supposed deal for Japanese international Hidemasa Morita from Sporting CP.

With Leeds' rumoured interest in Sandal, it comes as a surprise to almost everyone as to why the Premier League club are sniffing around the Luton outcast.
The 22-year-old has been unfavoured by Wilshere ever since making the move to England, and whilst the former Arsenal and England midfielders' reasons for not using Sandal aren't yet clear, it comes as a shock nevertheless.
Wilshere has yet to be conviced by the Norwegian, who could make the mighty jump to the Premier League this summer in a shock turn of events, as the Whites look to take advantage of Luton's mishap.
