The Toffees have taken a keen interest in Elijah Adebayo again, with the player shining last term.
Everton will make Luton Town striker Elijah Adebayo one of their top targets for the January transfer window.
This is according to The Sun, who have reported that the Toffees have reignited their interest in the Hatters' player, having previously been linked with a move for him back in May.
Sean Dyche's side brought in some decent attacking options this summer, with Iliman Ndiaye making the permanent move back to England.
He could be a very shrewd signing, but he may spend much of the campaign operating behind the main striker.
However, the Toffees did manage to add to their striker department during this window, sealing a loan move for Chelsea's Armando Broja.
There is an option to make the player's move permanent next summer, but they may not take up that option and Dyche may feel as though he needs another option in this area that could stay for the longer term.
With Neal Maupay securing an exit from Goodison Park, Broja was much-needed and although there's arguably more work to be done in defence, judging from their opening three league games, it looks as though another striker is firmly on their radar ahead of the January window.
As mentioned above, the Toffees are interested in Adebayo and their boss Dyche has reportedly made him one of the club's top targets for the January transfer window.
They know that they may lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin at some point and if they do, the Luton star seems to be on their radar as a potential replacement, having seen him impress during his first season playing in the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit would have made a move during the previous window if Calvert-Lewin had moved on during the summer, but a move for their current forward failed to materialise in the end.
According to The Sun, they aren't the only team in the race for Adebayo, with Crystal Palace also thought to be eyeing a move for him.
Palace are keen for Jean-Philippe Mateta to put pen to paper on an extension, but they are struggling in this quest and have Adebayo in mind as a potential replacement for him.
The Eagles have benefitted from recruiting players from the EFL before, with the likes of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Adam Wharton proving to be big successes at Selhurst Park.
Any team that wants to sign the Luton man will need to fork out £15m-£20m. This is the type of price that Luton would be willing to sell him for, according to this report from The Sun.
Adebayo may feel as though he deserves a return to the top flight, having got into double figures for top-tier goals last term.
A return to the top level of English football could give him the opportunity to impress on a big stage again.
And with this in mind, it's an opportunity that he surely can't afford to turn down if it comes his way in January, even if he doesn't end up starting every game.
It wouldn't be an easy decision for the player to make the move away from Kenilworth Road though.
Adebayo has managed to create some brilliant memories at Kenilworth Road - and he will want to leave them in a good position if he does depart.
He will be keen to take his team up the Championship table as quickly as possible, ahead of the winter window.
