Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas honour Bernard Lacombe, Monsieur OL, on symbolic 15 August | OneFootball

Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas have paid tribute to Bernard Lacombe on 15 August, a little over a year after his death in June 2025. In the city between the Rhône and the Saône, the date marks the birthday he would have celebrated.

According to Le Progres, Olympique Lyonnais shared a remembrance for the club great known as Monsieur OL.

The club posted a message honouring their legend and paired it with a black-and-white portrait. Lacombe served Lyon as striker, head coach and later sporting adviser.

From 1988 to 2019, Aulas and Lacombe worked side by side for more than 30 years, an era crowned by seven consecutive French league titles.

Aulas chose not to dwell on the honours, instead reflecting on the bond with his right-hand man. He recalled the loss of a friend, the moments they shared and the void left.
