According to Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais are considering a move for Stade Rennais midfielder Baptiste Santamaria (28) in the upcoming transfer window.
Lyon took an interest in Santamaria in the summer and they could return for the Frenchman in January. Santamaria, who had previously been displaceable in Rennes’ midfield, has found game time more hard to come by this season following the arrivals of Enzo Le Fée and Nemanja Matic.
OL owner John Textor is insistent that the club will not be restricted by the DNCG, French football’s watchdog, in January, and he has promised arrival amidst the club’s attempts to beat the drop to Ligue 2. Matthieu Louis-Jean, Lyon’s head of recruitment, has identified the midfield as an area of improvement and the club are therefore looking once again at Santamaria.
Renewed links to Santamaria come amidst rumours of Corentin Tolisso’s potential departure. The academy product made his return to the club in the summer of 2022 but he continues to be affected by the injuries that blighted his time at Bayern Munich. According to Le Progrès, Les Gones may look to get Tolisso, as well as club captain Alexandre Lacazette off their wage bill in January.
