According to Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique Lyonnais will exercise the option to purchase Mama Baldé (28) from ESTAC Troyes. There would have been an automatic obligation to buy if Baldé had played 55% of the Lyon matches this season, but Les Gones will trigger their option regardless.
The defender will be signed permanently from the Ligue 2 bound side for €6 million with a bonus of €500,000 that could be added to the final fee. There will also be a 10% profit share between the two clubs for any possible gains that Lyon could make if they sell Baldé in the future.
Last season, Baldé had been Troyes’ best player in their ill-fated campaign that saw them drop down into Ligue 2, and while the Guinea-Bissau international has hardly set his new club alight since making the loan move for an initial fee of €2 million, he has earned a spot within the squad as a flexible option that can help see out games in the dying minutes.
