Lyon meet the DNCG on Thursday morning for a mid-season review, with the French football watchdog expected to keep wage and transfer controls in place.

According to L'Équipe, Lyon have two appointments on Thursday, and the more significant is at 11:00 at the LFP’s headquarters on boulevard de Courcelles, not at Groupama Stadium.

On 24 June, the DNCG ordered Lyon’s administrative relegation to Ligue 2. The federal appeals commission overturned that two weeks later after a €87 million injection from ARES and Michèle Kang, who was installed quickly to push John Textor aside.

Since then, Kang, who also leads OL Lyonnes, has split from the American businessman. Textor bought the club in December 2022 using investment funds, mostly ARES.

Specialists are expected to present a clear picture of Eagle Bidco’s finances to the DNCG, setting out who owes what across Botafogo, Lyon and Molenbeek, amid opacity created in part by factoring that benefited Botafogo.

In late November, Lyon posted losses of more than €200 million for the 2024-2025 financial year, matching forecasts previously provided to the DNCG.

Since the summer, the club have trimmed costs and cut the wage bill by about 40 percent, while reconnecting with local business and signing new partnerships. To comply with a UEFA agreement, Lyon cannot exceed a combined €60 million deficit across this season and the next two.
