L’Équipe report that Ada Hegerberg, Olympique Lyonnais’ star Norweigan forward, is attracting interest from two of the biggest clubs in Spain. Real Madrid is reportedly interested in the Ballon d’Or winner from 2018, while FC Barcelona has been keen to sign her since 2019.
The 27-year-old’s contract with Lyon runs until 2024, and the club is keen to retain one of its most valuable players. However, the situation is complicated by the financial situation of Barcelona, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Catalan club reportedly made an offer for Hegerberg last summer, but it was rejected by Lyon.
Hegerberg has been a key player for Lyon since joining the club in 2014, scoring 236 goals in 223 appearances. She has also won seven consecutive Champions League titles with the team from 2016 to 2022. Hegerberg’s potential departure would be a major blow for Lyon, as they look to rebuild their team after being knocked out of this season’s Champions League by Chelsea.
