According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, despite total agreement made between Lyon and Rayo Vallecano for midfielder Pathé Ciss (28), the move has broken down due to the late submission of registration documents.
Lyon and Rayo Vallecano had reached a €6m agreement for the player, the player having already given the green light to the deal previously.
Lyon have been in the market for a midfielder throughout the window, and have begun to scramble around with just hours remaining. In the past hours, Tiémoué Bakayoko and Sevilla midfielder Fernando have both been linked with moves. The former is proving complicated due to Chelsea’s insistence that AC Milan pay compensation to terminate the Frenchman’s loan, whilst Sevilla rejected Lyon’s approach for the latter.
Ciss has played 54 games with Rayo Vallecano, scoring four goals and delivering one assist. He was tied to a contract with La Liga’s current seventh-placed side until 2025.
