Stade Rennais are proving stubborn in their stance that they won’t sell wantaway midfielder Nemanja Matić (35) to a Ligue 1 rival, and as a result, Olympique Lyonnais are looking at alternatives. According to L’Équipe, an offer has been submitted for Fenerbahçe’s Ismail Yüksek (24).
Matić left Rennes and emptied his locker in order to attempt to force through a move away from the club, however, he has since returned to Brittany and offered a public apology for his actions. Whilst Les Rennais are open to finding Matić a new club this January, the club are nonetheless reticent to sell him to a Ligue 1 rival, amidst interest from Lyon.
Lyon are therefore considering other options and a bid has been submitted to sign Turkish international Yüksek from Fenerbahçe. The No.6 has 12 caps for Turkey and has a contract with Fenerbahçe that runs until 2027. He has been a mainstay in the Turkish club’s midfield this season, playing 28 matches in all competitions, however, he could now be set for a departure.
