France international and Lyon midfielder Amandine Henry (33) is poised to leave the Rhône side and sign with National Women’s Soccer League side Angel City FC, according to a report from RMC Sport and as first indicated by Fotbollskanalen.
Henry’s contract with Les Fenottes is due to expire next June, and the outlet reports that the 7-time Champions League winner with Lyon will not extend her stay. The midfielder is expected to put pen to paper with Angel City FC, the Los Angeles-based women’s soccer franchise owned by several high-profile celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria and Serena Williams.
The Lille-born midfielder is no stranger to the NWSL. Henry joined Portland Thorns in 2016 and went on to win the league the following year with the Oregon franchise. The 93-time France international is currently on a path to recovery after sustaining a left knee sprain with ligament damage. She should be available for the Women’s World Cup this summer, should newly-appointed Les Bleues boss Hervé Renard call her up.
