Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Wolfsburg are set to win the race to sign Olympique Lyonnais centre-forward Amin Sarr (22).
As reported by L’Équipe earlier on Wednesday, FC Metz and FC Lorient were both in the race to sign Sarr on loan. The former are in the search for an attacker following Georges Mikautadze’s move to Ajax, but it was the latter that were thought to be in the lead.
Foot Mercato added that Bundesliga side Wolfsburg were also in the race, and they now look to have beaten the two Ligue 1 clubs to the Swede’s signature. Sarr has struggled since his €11m move from Heerenveen back in January, scoring just once and registering one assist. However, according to Romano, Lyon are set to make a profit on the player.
Sarr will join Wolfsburg on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent. The total package is reportedly worth €15m. The player will now travel to Germany tonight before undergoing a medical and sealing the switch to the Bundesliga.
