According to L’Équipe, Lyon have agreed a deal with Nantes which will see Johann Lepenant (21) leave the club on a season-long loan. The defensive midfielder’s loan move also includes an optional purchase clause.
Nantes manager Antoine Koumbaré had targeted Lepanant as his priority target for the defensive midfield position during the summer transfer window. The former Caen midfielder’s option to buy will be a fee in the region of €2.5m and a 4-year contract could be waiting for the France U21 international if he impresses during his initial loan move next season.
Lepenant could be set to replace a fellow defensive midfielder at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Former Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella could be set to leave Les Canaris this summer. At the end of the Ligue 1 season, Koumbaré revealed that the Spaniard would like to leave Nantes after 4 years at the club.
