Many of Olympique Lyonnais’ players are on the market. There is a defined list of indesriables, currently training seperately from the first-team, such as Rayan Cherki and Dejan Lovren. Then there are players that remain with the first-team, but who would, in an ideal world, leave the club before the end of the window, such as Maxence Caqueret and Gift Orban.
However, with Lyon desperate to sell before the end of the month in order to raise the €100m in player sales that they promised the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, other players, players they wanted to retain, are not untouchable. RC Strasbourg Alsace are set to profit from that desperation and sign Mamadou Sarr (18) for €10m, as per a report from L’Équipe.
OL had ben keen to retain the highly-rated centre-back, as evidenced by their rejection of Stade de Reims’ interest earlier in the summer. However, with too many players still on their books and with the days to the transfer deadline ticking down, Lyon are in need of sales and Sarr has had to be sacrificed. The France youth international is set to join BlueCo-owned Strasbourg on Wednesday and sign a five-year deal.
