A Madrid supporter was spat at and abused in the stands at Mestalla during his team’s win over Valencia. As reported by AS, Movistar Plus+ cameras captured the incident and the fan left before full time.

Footage shows someone in the crowd taking his Madrid scarf and throwing it across the stand. The supporter went to recover it and, after putting it back on, another person snatched it again and hurled it to the floor while berating him. Three nearby spectators moved in to voice their disapproval.

After regaining the scarf, the Madrid fan headed for the exit, briefly raising it before disappearing into a tunnel. From above, another individual shouted at him and spat in his direction. Stadium security and police then arrived to prevent any further escalation.

The broadcast also picked up a section of the crowd directing an obscene insult at Mbappé.

The scenes come almost a year after five supporters were given one year in prison for racist abuse of Vinicius during Madrid’s 2022 match in Valencia.
