Mike Maignan delayed his return from vacation to start Milan pre-season training, with reports of renewed interest from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

The goalkeeper had been ready to walk away last summer when he received a big proposal from Chelsea, but the Rossoneri were not prepared to let him leave.

He was convinced to stay by coach Max Allegri, director Igli Tare and goalkeeping coach Claudio Filippi, but all three of them were fired in May after failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Now he is under contract until June 2031 and yet frustrated with the direction the club is taking.

Both Maignan and Adrien Rabiot have delayed their return from the post-World Cup vacation from the planned August 12 to August 16.

It is probably also no coincidence that both were very close to Allegri, not appreciating the way he was sacked.

Now La Gazzetta dello Sport warn that Maignan has been approached by Al-Nassr, the Saudi Pro League club where Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing.

The goalkeeper also wears the captain’s armband and has been at San Siro since the summer of 2021, when he replaced Gianluigi Donnarumma.
