Cole Palmer has been described as “good to go” for Chelsea’s game against Manchester City on Sunday at The Etihad.

Palmer has been plagued by a groin injury this season, but returned to action against Leeds last month and is continuing to build his fitness.

The England international scored in the win against Everton in December, but is yet to complete 90 minutes since returning from injury.

Cole Palmer ready for Manchester City game

Palmer was taken off in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday, a decision which was met with boos from the home support.

Maresca had stated before the game with Aston Villa Palmer was ready to play 90 minutes, and it’s subsequently transpired he’s had disagreements with the medical staff over the amount of minutes players should be playing when returning from injury.

Maresca parted ways with Chelsea on Thursday after 18 months in charge, and under-21s boss Calum McFarlane will lead the Blues against City.

It will be interesting to see what team he picks, with Moises Caicedo suspended and doubts over Marc Cucurella.

However, Mail Sport have reported Cole Palmer is “good to go” as he prepares to once again return to his former club.

If Chelsea are to stand any chance of getting a result they will be looking for Palmer to try and produce some magic.

Liam Rosenior expected to be new Chelsea manager

Whilst McFarlane will be in charge for the trip to The Etihad, Chelsea are continuing to work to make Liam Rosenior their next boss.

Rosenior is the leading candidate, and the 41-year-old is currently preparing for Strasbourg’s game against Nice this weekend.

The former Hull boss is expected to replace Maresca, but BlueCo are still looking for a new manager for Strasbourg before finalising Rosenior’s appointment.

Having worked under BlueCo already he should know exactly what to expect, but only time will tell if he’s ready for the step up to Chelsea.
