1. FSV Mainz 05 are reported to have made FC Metz’s Gauthier Hein (29) one of their transfer targets for the summer, according to Onze Mondial. An offer from the German club’s management is even said to have already been submitted to their French counterparts.

Captain of Les Grenats, the club where he came through the ranks, the Thionville-born and former AJ Auxerre player once again put in some impressive performances last season, despite the Alsatians’ relegation to Ligue 2. Making 31 appearances across all competitions, Hein proved decisive on 16 occasions, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists.

And although his contract ties him to Metz until 2028, the attacking player is likely to be playing far from the Stade Saint-Symphorien in the 2026-27 season. Having been courted by Major League Soccer, and more specifically by FC Dallas, last winter, Hein is nevertheless expected to continue his career on the Old Continent.
