Mainz terminate Nantes loan as Hong rejoins KAA Gent for remainder of season

Mainz have ended Hong's Nantes loan, and the midfielder will rejoin KAA Gent, the club confirmed.

Hong joined Nantes on loan last summer but saw little playing time and has now left the Ligue 1 club.

An agreement was reached on Wednesday for him to return to Gent, the side he left in summer 2024 to sign for Mainz.

The 26-year-old goes back to an environment where he has enjoyed the best spell of his career so far.

Between 2022 and 2025 he made 104 appearances for Gent, scoring 18 goals and providing 20 assists.

Gent sit eighth in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and will have the South Korean until the end of the current season.
