Norwich City beat Southampton 2-1 at Carrow Road on Saturday as Jovon Makama struck twice to lift the hosts from 23rd to 22nd in the Championship.

In the 25th minute, Southampton won a penalty when Harry Darling fouled Léo Scienza. Vladan Kovacevic saved Adam Armstrong's effort (27.).

After the restart, Makama turned in Jacob Wright's cross following a corner (48.). Ryan Manning levelled with a low strike from outside the box (57.). Moments later, Makama finished from close range for the winner (61.).

The Saints introduced Welington and Cameron Bragg as they chased the game (63.), later adding Jay Robinson (74.) and Cameron Archer (84.). Seven minutes of added time were signalled, but the Canaries' back line held firm.

The Canaries tallied 16 attempts and six corners. The Saints had 63.4% possession and registered 12 attempts.

The result leaves the Canaries 22nd. The Saints remain ninth. Next, the Canaries visit Preston North End. The Saints host Coventry City.
