Deadline day ended with late twists as Malick Fofana chose Sunderland, Quinten Timber left OM and Folarin Balogun stayed at Monaco. According to L'Équipe, the summer window shut on Tuesday night, with several deals sealed as the English market closed at midnight.

Sunderland beat Crystal Palace to Lyon winger Fofana, 21, who signed for Régis Le Bris's Black Cats. The fee is €35 million, including €5 million in add-ons, plus a 12.5% sell-on applied to any future capital gain.
