A significant chapter at Mamelodi Sundowns has closed with the departure of a key behind-the-scenes figure. The club has officially announced the exit of Senior Performance Analyst Goolam ‘GV’ Valodia, bringing his 15-year tenure to an end.

The news comes just days after the team returned from their latest continental assignment, a hard-fought 0-0 draw against MC Alger in Algeria that solidified their position at the top of their CAF Champions League group. This successful period on the field, however, is now marked by a notable change off it.

In a concise official statement released by the defending Betway Premiership champions, the club confirmed the end of an era, stating, “After 15 years of service, Mamelodi Sundowns is parting ways with Senior Performance Analyst, Goolam ‘GV’ Valodia.”

Valodia, who first joined the club in 2010, dedicated over a decade and a half to his roles as a scout and performance analyst. His contributions were part of the foundation that supported the team's triumphs, including their historic 2016 CAF Champions League victory.

While the official announcement was made recently, whispers of his impending departure had been circulating since the beginning of the current season, suggesting a planned and transitional exit. Concluding their message, the club extended its well-wishes to Valodia on behalf of its supporters, saying, “The entire Yellow Nation wishes you the best of luck with your future endeavours.” As Sundowns prepare for their return to continental football against Al-Hilal, they will do so without the long-familiar presence of GV in the analysis room.
